I have noticed a lot of large icicles forming on houses around the area. I think they are actually kind of beautiful, but they also look super scary. Even though there isn't a huge danger from them, there are reasons you should get the icicles off the roof of your house.

Although the likeliness of an icicle impaling a human is slim, they can still hurt. Bruising and even broken bones could occur from one falling on you. Also, no one wants a giant chunk of ice to hit them in the head.

Pretty much the same as people. Icicles are not likely to impale a pet but they can severely hurt them, just like a person. If you get caught under one at the wrong time it can cause damage.

Icicles can cause some serious damage to your roof. If they crack and fall they may take some of the roof with them.

Again, it can cause some damage to your home. It can crack gutters or make them fall off your home, it can break off any ornamental fixtures on your home.

If for some reason you have to get on the roof of your home icicles and snow make it super dangerous. You could easily slip off if you don't clean it off. Also, don't even put a ladder leaned against icicles.

Icicles could mean that your home is not properly insulated, it could lead to water damage, or it is a sign of poor ventilation.

For those who don't know, you can remove icicles yourself. You can use a rubber mallet and break them off, just don't stand underneath them. You can also try to break them off with things like rakes and other tools.

Once you are done with breaking off the icicles you should put them in the snow to get them to melt. Plus, that will help make sure no one slips and falls on them.
