As 2021 approaches, Autotrader believes it is a good idea to create a list of the best new automotive technologies in 2022. The technology of the automotive industry has become more complex year by year, and new automotive technologies will come out in 2022.

From the growing selection of electric vehicles to the development of car-related smartphones, autonomous driving functions, etc., new cars are a typical example of how automotive technological innovations continue to change and shape consumers’ daily lives.

Whether under the hood or in the cabin, drivers can benefit from improvements in performance, safety, and efficiency due to new automotive technology advancements every year. This is Autotrader's best new automotive technology in 2022, in no particular order.

The electric Polestar 2 is the first car to use the new Android car operating system. Not to be confused with Android Auto, this new operating system is a system developed by Google and open to third-party developers. It integrates Google applications such as Google Maps and Google Assistant for navigation. Just say "OK, Google" to initiate a voice command, and Google Assistant can help you handle music, maps, climate control, and more. Don’t worry if you don’t have an Android phone-the system also has wireless Apple CarPlay.

Although electric pickup trucks have been around for some time, today they are more realistic than ever. Some of them are still in the concept stage-such as Tesla Cybertruck and Nissan concept pickup-but Ford F-150 Lightning and Rivian R1T will both begin delivery in 2022. You might even see a GMC Hummer EV 2021 in the lane before the end of the year.
